A mountain cabin scaled for the smallest of climbers
The Squirrel Dwelling is unabashedly a house — it has a pitched roof with carved shingle texture, a door hole sized precisely at three inches, and a small carved porch rail that serves no structural purpose but gives the piece its humor and warmth. Inside, an untreated basswood interior and a handful of wood shavings create an inviting nest chamber. The entry-side face is carved with overlapping oak leaf silhouettes in dimensional relief, so the whole piece looks as though it grew from the tree it mounts on.
